The latest FACT mix comes from edit-happy Brooklyn duo In Flagranti.

Sasha Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor to their mates and mums, the pair made a name for themselves with their forward-thinking Italo and electro confections on their own Codek label as well as Eskimo and Kitsune, and have remixed the likes of WhoMadeWho and Diskokaine. You can usually spot an In Flagranti record from the mucky titles (‘Sexx Piss Tool’ is our fav) and dirty cover art, which just makes us like them more.

Their FACT mix is a right old stomper basically, and features edits of Killing Joke, The Breeders and The Glitter Band, as well as original material from YACHT, Fancy Beat and more. Scroll past the download link for an interview with the pair…

Who or what is In Flagranti?

Sasha: “In Flagranti are Alex Gloor and Sasha Crnobrnja.”

What’s your past form?

Alex: “A square.”

Tell us a little bit about the mix you’ve recorded for FACT…

S: “Since I don’t have all my gear with me at the moment, I mixed it entirely in Ableton but recorded with Wiretap so it gives me a little bit of a feeling of recording it in to another device.”

You’re best known for your disco edits – which disco nuggets do you never leave home without?

S: “That’s the nice thing about CDs, I have them all with me, always.”

A: “I always have my laptop with me so I can make a selection of edits before a gig after I see the location we’re playing. It’s different every time.”

What inspired you to start making music?

S: “When I was about three years old I remember this song by the Tremeloes, ‘My Little Lady’, that’s when I felt it.”

A: “I don’t consider myself a musician, I’m a DJ that makes sound collages. I have no clue about studios or playing an instrument, but I have a good ear for sounds and a lucky hand sifting triftshops and fleamarkets for obscure vinyl I can use to sample sounds for us to work with.”

Are you pessimistic or optimistic about the state of dance music today?

S: “Optimistic.”

A: “Music is great that way, there is always something around corner replacing what’s there right now. Questionable is if the replacement is any good. “Mick Jagger once said: “Everything new I’ve seen at least twice”…

What’s the best thing about being In Flagranti?

S: “Independence.”

A: “In Flagranti stand for independence, it’s the driving force behind what we do, it’s what makes us get up every morning and do everything ourselves, the music, graphic design, videos, the label Codek.”

And the worst?

S: “Hangovers…”

Tell us about any current/forthcoming releases you have out….

S: “We just released the album Brash & Vulgar and there is a few remixes we have done for various labels. At the same time we have been working on a single feat Natalie Smith (‘Brush my Beat’). not sure yet about the release date.”

Anything else we should know?

A: “I like pasta and slim elegant women.”

In Flagranti will be playing the next Neon Noise Project/Kistune party at The Scala in London on 20th June, with Delphic, Chew Lips, Autokratz, We Have Band and a rare UK appearance from Aeroplane. Full preview here
