A new club, FAC251 The Factory, will open on Friday 5 February in the old offices of Factory Records in Manchester.

The club is a joint venture between Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order) and club operators Tokyo Industries, and according to a press release will be “mixing live bands, indie and dance influences” across three different floors.

Original Factory architect Ben Kelly was hired to re-design and renovate the infamous building, located in the city’s Northern Quarter, to suit its new purpose as a predominantly “live, rock & roll venue”.

However, there will be three distinct clubbing “environments” to FAC251, each on a different floor. The ground floor is the main live space, The Bassment, while the first floor (the old office space) is now a separate dancefloor “with the feel of a VIP section”. Finally, the second floor is The Boardroom, unchanged from its original “minimalist chic” design.

The club will open on Friday 5 February with a one-off performance by The Light, a Manchester “supergroup” helmed by Peter Hook and featuring Mani (Stone Roses), Rowetta (Happy Mondays), Howard Marks and other special guests and performing hits and rarities from Joy Division, New Order, Monaco and Revenge, and debuting live material from Hook’s new project FREEBASS. On Saturday 6 February, original Hacidenda indie night Stoneclub takes the reins.
