Stateside hip-hop duo Lazer Sword will release Lazer Sword, their debut album, this November.

Antaeus Roy and Bryant Rutledge made a name for themselves on their vivid live shows and bass-heavy bootlegs, before releasing the six-track Golden Handshake EP on Numbers earlier this year. Their music, which is rooted in rap but also takes in 8-bit, Daft Punk, Jimmy Edgar and more, has been described as everything from “electro crunk” to “future blap”, but we’d rather just consider it a modern, wide-reaching take on hip-hop.

Lazer Sword was mostly written and recorded in San Francisco, where the pair used to live (Rutledge is now LA-based, while Roy has moved to Berlin), and features Anti-Pop Consortium’s M. Sayyid, Freestyle Fellowship’s Myka 9, Zackey Force Funk and Turf Talk.

It will be released on November 2 via Innovative Leisure, preceded by first single ‘Batman’ / ‘I’m Gone’. That drops in October, with ‘Batman’ remixes from Nguzunguzu and Lando Kal and ‘I’m Gone’ remixes by Low Limit and Rustie.
