Opened in 1982, Manchester’s Fac 51 Haçienda – or, as most know it, simply the Haçienda – remans one of the UK’s most mythologised clubs.
Forever associated with New Order, Madchester and acid house, the club on Whitworth St West finally closed in June 1997, but it lingers on in the collective rave memory as one of dance music’s most important venues, the epicentre of the UK’s early dance explosion.
To mark 30 years since the club opened its doors, we’re sharing an exclusive video tour revealing the original Haçienda as its staff saw it, shot by Ikon Films back in 1982. Watch below.
