Finders Keepers have put together a compilation of “previously unreleased testosterone” from Manchester’s ’70s rock underground. They’ve called it, quite brilliantly, Man Chest Hair.

It consists of unissued studio demos and rate tracks of “hard rock, hairy funk, heavy, prog from the toughest unknown rock groups of Greater Manchester”, a disparate, motley and largely overlooked micro-scene that laid the foundations for punk and metal. 808 State’s Graham Massey describes th comp “a sonic polaroid of plump 1970s Lancashire technology in action. Let’s hear it for real men that built their own studios from denim, rock, wool and sweat.”

Man Chest Hair is available on double-vinyl LP, CD (with bonus track) and limited edition box set. The latter features the vinyl album in deluxe handmade sleeve with alternate design, and includes two Man Chest Hair 7″ singles, an exclusive T-shirt, a sticker and, of course, a bottle of Man Chest Hair Musk aftershave (pictured).
