Eminem‘s brand new single ‘Survival‘ was shared last week, rather unusually in conjunction with the new Call of Duty: Ghosts video game, and now its host full-length has been revealed.
Entitled MMLP2, the record is a sequel to Slim Shady’s world beating third album The Marshall Mathers LP, and follows the well worn rap obsession with producing sequels to much loved records (see also Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt.2, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter II and III, and most of Jay-Z’s output). Almost typically for an album release in 2013, the news was broken by a short trailer (which you can see below) which was played during yesterday evening’s MTV Video Music Awards, and from the looks of it is endorsed by Dr. Dre’s popular Beats headphones.
Dre and Rick Rubin co-produce the album which is set for release on November 5, and if Eminem’s lyrics are to be believed, he’s taking things “back to straight hip-hop.” We’ll get to hear the next single ‘Berserk’ tomorrow, so with any luck that should shine a little more light on things.
