There’s yet another series about hip-hop in the works.

XBox Entertainment Studios is developing a half-hour series about Nas’ life as a rapper in the 1990s, set in Queensbridge and focused on “music, family and the trials and tribulations of the rap game.” The series, entitled Street Dreams, is being written and directed by Jonathan Levine, best known for the similarly-themed 2008 film The Wackness.

Nas, currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of Illmatic with a reissue, a documentary, and a tour, is involved in the writing and music of the developing series. While Xbox has been scooping up scripted projects, the gaming console / entertainment portal has yet to launch a series.

Street Dreams joins shows by Q-Tip, Lee Butler, Donald Glover and more in the list of developing projects about hip-hop, most about New York rap in the 80s and 90s. [via Deadline]
