Fool’s Gold mine another gem.
A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs’ label continues its red-hot run of hip-hop releases (Run The Jewels, Danny Brown) with the new mixtape from West Coast rapper 100s.
Casting off the icy mood of 2012’s Ice Cold Perm, the funk-infused IVRY (a stylisation of ivory, as discerned from the glitzy artwork) is top-down cruising material with a whiff of early ’90s Snoop Dogg, a splash of Andre 3000 and a dollop of Rick James. Billed as “bedtime stories” taking “classic mack vibes to chic new heights”, it’s a slick mofo for sure.
The mixtape was trailed last week with ‘Ten Freaky Hoes’, which features Numbers’ lad Redinho on talkbox – hear that below.
