Cedric Bixler-Zavala promises proper reissues from the defunct band.

Prog-punks The Mars Volta officially disbanded last January, with singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez Lopez exploring different ventures before reuniting as part of new super group Antemasque.

The Antemasque news might have Mars Volta fans getting nostalgic, but Bixler-Zavala says to beware a forthcoming reissue of the band’s 2003 debut De-Loused in the Comatorium. Due out next week on gold, “180 gram audiophile vinyl” via Music On Vinyl, Bixler-Zavala tweets that the reissue is a “bootleg” and a “fraud.”

“That bootleg is poor quality & some idiot is pocketing the $,” he writes, promising a “proper” reissue of early Mars Volta records in “far superior” packaging and joking that “maybe we will just etch all the personal information of the bootleggers on the vinyl.”

Plus, he teased a release of the band’s live material (“Who knows what we decide but there is so much”) but tells fans to “be patient for the releases and I promise they will be worth the wait.”
