The rumbling collaboration is set for a Black Friday release.
We’ve made no secret of our crush on The Bug’s latest album Angels & Devils, which finds Kevin Martin calling on a host of guests to spark off, from Grouper’s Liz Harris and the mystical Gonjasufi to grime MC Flowdan and dancehall firebrand Warrior Queen.
Continuing in that vein, Martin has unveiled his collaboration with Dylan Carlson of Seattle drone metal pioneers Earth, a band who share his taste for thunderous, psyche-altering low-end. The seven-minute ‘Boa’ was originally intended for Angels & Devils, but Carlson’s guitars required a little more room to stretch out, so they moved the song to a special 12″ release.
‘Boa’ is set for release as part of Record Store Day’s forthcoming Black Friday haul on November 28 in the US (and December 1 worldwide). It comes backed with another collaboration, ‘Cold’, which Martin previously described as “tectonic, shifting beauty”. Check it out below via The Guardian, and steel yourself for the drop.
Earlier this year Martin told FACT’s Maya Kalev about being a lone wolf and his knack for “future shock reinventions” – read the interview.
Update, November 20: The B-side, ‘Cold’, has now been unveiled.
