Choose from Detroit techno, IDM, and “liquid trap”.
Beatport might have launched its own streaming service recently, but Digitally Imported thinks there’s room for another aimed at electronic music fans. Though the site has been playing electronic music on its online radio stations non-stop since 1999, it’s turning into a full-blown streaming service.
Available to users who pay a premium subscription of $7 per month or $70 a year, the service will feature all of the company’s achieved shows from 2015 and 400,000 tracks across 80 channels. Like Spotify, users will be able to create shareable playlists.
While Digitally Imported boasts “100% human-curated streaming radio,” some of the channels leave a little to be desired – while there’s channels for Detroit techno and IDM, there are also options for “indie dance:, “drumstep” and “liquid trap”.
The service launches in the US first and will expand worldwide as the company reaches licensing agreements in other regions. As well as Beatport, it will also have to contend with Apple Music, which has its own radio station, Beats 1. [via The Next Web]
