Dave Clark is back on Numbers.

Clark has been a key figure in Glasgow’s music scene since the early 90s, collaborating with JD Twitch, supporting The Black Dog and Jeff Mills and releasing music on Numbers antecedent Wireblock. Press materials describe him as a pioneer of “GDM” — “Glaswegian Dance Music” — and while the term is tongue-in-cheek, the designation is not.

As Sparky, Clark has been a part of Numbers since the beginning, appearing in their first mix and seeing his 2002 track ‘Portland’ reissued by the label. This week, the label releases his latest single.

The all-new ‘Signals’ is somewhere between “the proto-techno sounds of British synth pop and the dancefloor nous of the Motor City,” while ‘Tigress’ (pulled from his deep archives) is described as a “snarling metal-bashing beast.” Stream both below; the single is out now on limited 12″ vinyl with a digital release to follow on Friday.
