New heat from the Vatican insider.
Pope Francis drops his “prog-rock-infused” album Wake Up! on Friday, a collection of sacred hymns and excerpts of his multilingual speeches paired with “uplifting musical accompaniment ranging from pop-rock to Gregorian chant”.
The producer of Wake Up!, Don Giulio Neroni, said he wanted to insert rock, pop and Latin influences into the album while being “strongly faithful to the pastoral and personality of Pope Francis,” and it also features songs written by Tony Pagliuca, formerly a member of Italian prog rock outfit Le Orme.
The album is streaming on the Guardian ahead of its release on Friday through Believe Digital, and some of the proceeds from sales will be donated to a refugee support fund, which might encourage you to part with cash?
