The latest wickedly off-kilter release from the good folk at Styles Upon Styles.
Space People makes his debut this week with a tape of galactically-minded and glitch-ridden beats drawing from hip-hop, funk, and the leftwards noodling of classic Brainfeeder.
SHMM was recorded at “my parents house – god bless’ em” and offers a colossal 20 tracks from the New York City rookie.
“My roots lie in funk music – from James to D’Angelo and all that lies in between,” the musician behind Space People tells FACT. “I only listened to Earth Wind and Fire while I made SHMM – who knows what that did.”
SHMM is out on cassette and digital today, with some bonus tracks available on the tape – head to Bandcamp to cop it, and listen to the first single, ‘Bouncing (My Ass)’ below.
