One of the rapper’s most frequent collaborators preps her solo debut.
Longtime Kendrick Lamar collaborator Anna Wise has announced her debut EP The Feminine: Act 1. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the singer, you’ve likely heard her on some of Lamar’s best songs. She lent her voice to the Good Kid m.A.A.d City tracks ‘Money Trees’ and ‘Real’ and recently won a Grammy for her work on To Pimp A Butterfly’s ‘These Walls’.
Today, Wise has shared a new video from the upcoming EP for the song ‘Precious Possession’. The track’s brittle drums and blushing synths recall early James Blake, while Wise explains the song “is about a bride who is drunk on desire and fades within her own fantasy.”
