The band’s last release was 1999’s Slap-Happy.

L7 have announced their first new music in 18 years.

As Pitchfork reports, the feminist rock trailblazers will release two new singles this autumn, with the first track coming on September 29 via reliable punk imprint Don Giovanni.

The LA-based band formed in 1985, releasing their debut self-titled album in 1988. This was followed by 1990’s Smell The Magic and 1992’s seminal LP Bricks Are Heavy.

L7’s last full-length release was 1999’s Slap-Happy and the band went on hiatus in 2001. Co-founders Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, along with bassist Jennifer Finch and drummer Demetra Plakas reunited in 2015 and have been touring ever since.

Watch the trailer for Sarah Price-directed documentary L7: Pretend We’re Dead, which features interviews with Shirley Manson, Joan Jett, X vocalist Exene Cervenka, along with unearthed home movie footage. The first track will arrive on September 29 to coincide with the worldwide release of the film.

L7: Pretend We’re Dead is currently showing in selected theaters across the US.
