King Midas Sound‘s often staggering album from last year, Waiting For You, will finally get see a vinyl release on May 31.

King Midas Sound is the modern Lovers Rock trio of Kevin Martin (The Bug), Roger Robison and Hitomi (Dokkebi Q). After a pair of singles for Kode9’s Hyperdub label and an appearance on the imprint’s 5 compilation, the group released Waiting For You on CD at the end of last year. FACT described it at the time as “soul songs sung in cavernous dub spaces, in this world memories are fragments, connections are tangential, and the reggae sweetness of the past is inverted, forced inside out, to become something far weirder, more threatening, and strangely beautiful”.

Now it finally gets a wax release, in limited edition 180g double vinyl, with a deluxe gatefold sleeve. 1000 copies, never to be repressed, apparently. The vinyl edition of Waiting for You is 12 tracks whereas the CD version is 13; ‘Blue’ is ommited.
