!K7 have made ‘Triangle Folds’, the first new James Holden single in over four years, available as a free download. It’s taken from his DJ-Kicks mix, which is due out May 24.

As well as ‘Triangle Folds’, the DJ-Kicks selection – created primarily using Traktor and assorted MIDI controllers – features Holden’s previously unreleased remix of Mogwai’s ‘The Sun Smells Too Loud’. Other notable inclusions are Caribou’s ‘Lemon Yoghurt’ (taken from the amazing Start Breaking My Heart album, made back when he was still known as Manitoba), Black Dice man Eric Copeland’s ‘Auto Dimmer’, radiophonic doyenne Ursula Bogner’s ‘Punkte’, Mordant Music’s hauntological ramble ‘Olde Wobbly’ and the gloriously overblown synth-pop of Didier Paquette’s ‘Arwen, Namarie’.
