Kompakt is launching a new online release platform for limited edition CDs and 12″s. It’s called Kompakt.fm Exklusiv.

A press release from the Cologne-based label, shop and distributor describes the launch of Kompakt.FM Exklusiv as “a rebirth of the origins of Kompakt’s intention – being an independent record store and label that is able to offer our fans directly a wealth of exciting new releases and lost tunes that folks aren’t able to get anywhere else”.

As part of this plan, three new imprints have been established whose output will be available exclusively through Kompakt.fm. The first is the dancefloor and remix-oriented RAR, which kicks off with a two-sided 12″ featuring a Mugwump version of Jurgen Paape’s classic production ‘Come Into My Life’ and a version of Gus Gus’s ‘Hateful’ by Ada & Mayburg (Michael Mayer and Jorg Burger).

Next up is Kompakt Klassiks, a series intented “for the re-release of classics from the house of Kompakt and its peripherals”, beginning with a fresh CD edition (including new artwork) of Burger/Ink’s cult ’96 album Las Vegas. We’re particularly looking forward to this one.

Then there’s Protest, a newly minted sub-label of Wolfgang Voigt’s recently revived Profan. “Music for tomorrow. Consistent, idiosyncratic, pivotal,” says the press release. The first release is by Robert Schumann and Clara Wieck.

But that’s not all: Kompakt.fm Exklusiv will also be selling a special edition of Wolfgang Voigt’s Freiland Klaviermusik CD album that comes with a hand-painted, hand-signed 12″ EP featuring a remix of ‘Fereiland-Geduld’ by DJ Koze. This edition is limited to 175 copies.
