Laetitia Sadier, vocalist and founder member of Stereolab, will release her first solo album proper on September 21.
The Trip, which is being issued by Drag City, was recorded in the UK and US, with Richard Swift and Emmanuel Mario acting as producers; April March and Julien Gasc also contribute. It features twelve new tracks, including covers of 60s folkies Wendy & Bonnie’s ‘By The Sea’ (Super Furry Animals covered their ‘Hello Sunshine’ on the 2003 album Phantom Power) and 80s Franco-pop duo Les Rita Mitsouko’s ‘Un Soir, Un Chien’.
Sadier will be touring the album around Europe (dates below), but no news yet of any UK appearances.
Stereolab are currently dormant, if not entirely defunct. November 16 will see the release of Not Music, a collection of previously unheard material that stems from the sessions for band’s 2008 album Chemical Chords.
