Bristol In:Motion is a season of events taking place in the city’s huge Motion Skate Park venue with a mind to reinventing its already rudely healthy club scene.

12 events across six weekends have been announced, helmed by the best Bristol promoters and a couple from further afield. We kick off on Friday 1 October with a Weapon Of Choice night headed by hip-hop elder statesman KRS One. He’s joined by The Extended Players, Rodney P & Skitz, DJ Woody, Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols) and Bristol’s own Smith & Mighty and DJ Derek among others.

World-beating drum ‘n bass party Hospitality moves in on Saturday 2 October, bringing with it the likes of High Contrast, Marky, Danny Byrd, Netsky and Fabio. Dubstep-flavoured support comes from Hatcha, Chef and Shortstuff.

Delicatessen (Friday 8 October) is on a fluoro-dipped electro and techno tip, with headliners Simian Mobile Disco accompanied by the likes of Paul Woolford, Shadow Dancer (live), Jamie Anderson, Craig Torrance, A1 Bassline and (hosted by Just Jack) Shonky, Craig Richards and LMB. Heavweight local party-throwers Blowpop bring the breaks and all-purpose rave on Saturday 9 October with DJ Yoda, Orbital (DJ set), Freestylers, High Rankin and many more.

We’re  looking forward to Bloc‘s bash on Friday 15 October. The official launch party for the 2011 of the festival, its special guest is flamboyant jackmaster Green Velvet, with similarly seasoned floor-filler Andrew Weatherall(pictured) and elastic tech-house kingpin Claude Von Stroke taking care of the main room with support from talented Bristolians October (Caravan), Vent, Julio Bashmore, Jo Hart and Placid. Adopted Bristol boy Appleblim hosts a showcase for his Apple Pips label in the Tunnel room, with guests Scuba, Ramadanman and Al Tourettes. The wonderfully (woefully?) named Shit The Bed! crew are at the controls on Saturday 16 October, assembling a diverse line-up that includes Subfocus (live), Toddla T, Redlight, Starkey, Feadz, Ed Rush, Spectrasoul and Ben UFO among many others.

The San City High Tour
rolls into town on Friday 22 October, led by Kissy Sell Out and Hadouken (live). Of more interest to FACT readers will be Crazylegs and Urban Nerds‘ battle on Saturday 23 October, which sees some of the finest talents in dubstep, grime, UKG and funky – including Ms Dynamite (live), DJ EZ, Sticky, Deadboy, Scratcha DVA, Mosca and Ill Blu – showing how it’s done in London.

A proper headnodders’ bonanza on Friday 29 October, as Pinch’s Subloaded celebrates its birthday with a DMZ 3-hour set from Mala, Loefah and Coki. Top-drawer support from Pinch himself plus Doc Scott, Breakage, Peverelist, Dubkasm (live), Altered Natives, RSD and plenty else besides. Saturday 30 October is Just Jack’s Halloween ‘Circus Freak Boutique’, a techno, house and advanced garage spread starring Seth Troxler, Will Saul, Martyn and Joy Orbison.

Smerins Anti-Social Club
takes care of Friday 5 November and an epic Run rave bestrides Saturday 5, featuring Scratch Perverts. Joker, DJ Hype, Grooverider, Jakes, Komonazmuk and others.

The penultimate weekend boasts an Annie Mac Presents… showcase on Friday 12 November, with the eponymous Radio 1 jock joined by Rusko, Boy 8 Bit, Idiotproof, Congorock, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (live) and a number of other jugular-drawn young rave-makers. Ninja Tune brings its 20th anniversary celebrations to Bristol the following night, rolling out Coldcut, Mixmaster Mike, Steinski, The Bug feat. Flowdan, DJ Food & DK, Jammer, DJ Vadim and Quemist to name but a few.

The season draws to a close on Friday 19 November with another Just Jack party, this time topped by a Booka Shade live show, plus Matt Tolfrey, Geddes and loads more. The final party is helmed by Rizla; the line-up has yet to be announced, but it’s safe for you to expect big things.
