If you read this week’s New Album Round-up, you’ll have seen us mention Township Funk, a new compilation of South African dance music.

Due for release next month on Newstate, the comp comes mixed by South Africa’s DJ QNess, and features – alongside, obviously, Mujava’s kwaito anthem ‘Township Funk’ – DJ Fresca and Kudokelem’s brilliant ‘Bring out the Worst in Me’, Mujava’s anthemtic ‘Mugwanti’, DJ Storm and more. But the personal highlight for us, is Mzo Bullet’s ‘Casablanca’, arguably the cult South African house dub, never released on vinyl, and publically adored by Actress and countless more.

So we’re very excited about the fact that, along with releasing Township Funk, new state will be releasing ‘Casblanca’ as a single, backed – so we hear – by a remix from Hot City. Release date on that is unconfirmed, but Township Funk is due out on October 25.
