Daft Punk’s soundtrack for TRON: Legacy will be officially released on November 22 via Walt Disney Records.
Its release on CD, deluxe CD and digital download heralds that of the film itself: it’s set to open in the UK on Friday 17 December. The largely electronic score – some of which appeared to leak onto the web earlier this year – was composed, performed and produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, with contributions from a 100-strong orchestra recorded at Air Studios in London.
“It’s a new direction for them that they’re really excited about,” said Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, “And it’s so tied into the film because we developed them both together…”
Disney have just launched an interactive website for the soundtrack over at tronsoundtrack.com, where you can pre-order the digital and deluxe editions of the album. The deluxe edition is comprised of the album on CD and high-quality download, along with an exclusive Daft Punk Tron poster and a bonus download of a new track that’s not on the CD. The pre-order digital edition also boasts the bonus track.
