So Bones, a clubnight devoted to cutting edge commercial R&B and hip hop, free of any ironic winks is back, with a new regular line up and a new venue.
Devised by Robin Carolan (Tri Angle Records owner, and member of the 20 Jazz Funk Greats blog), So Bones began life as a blog (now sadly defunct), and later mutated into a sporadic clubnight, which has now been transformed into a regular event taking place in both London and Bristol.
Joining Tri Angle Records, the regular line up in London will consist of DJ Tearjerker (Numbers / Well Rounded, and you know him well), Girl Unit (Night Slugs), Romy (vocalist in The xx), Tom Lea (owner of Local Action Records), and helming things in Bristol, Hyetal and Julio Bashmore, with more members to be announced soon.
The first London event is taking place at the newly opened The Nest on 18 November 2010 with Hyetal and Bashmore making their DJ debut as Velour, their formally anonymous synth-driven project. For anyone who thinks R&B and hip hop is a guilty pleasure, you’re probably not going to be on the same level.
Expect Electrik Red [above], Cassie, Lil B, The-Dream, Waka Flocka Flame and tons more – Facebook event page is here.
