Sound a bell for the inevitable: Pulp are back.

Jarvis Cocker’s band have decided to reconvene after a ten year absence, beginning with a performance at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona. On Friday 27 May, all six original members of the Sheffield outfit – Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber – will take to the stage together for the first time since 1996 to play songs from the full span of their career. The other confirmed Pulp show for 2011 is at the Wireless festival in London’s Hyde Park, with more dates likely to follow.

No news yet on whether the band plan to record new material, but you can sign up for updates and more information at pulppeople.com. Pulp’s last album was 2001’s Scott Walker-produced We Love Life.
