Touch’s latest release is an LP by Sohrab, A Hidden Place.

The 26-year-old artist was born in Tehran, and takes his name from an old poem called ‘Shahname’; it means ‘rouge water’ or ‘blood’. According to Touch he is, “like so many, displaced within his own country and occupies a similar internal cultural isolation”.

A Hidden Place, available on vinyl and digital, is comprised of six tracks made by Sohrab using Reason 3, a MIDI controller, a sampler and Ambrosia recording software. As you can hear in a free download of non-album track ‘Noone Really Knows’, his music is at once expansive and inward-looking; its pattering rhythms and sighing, echo-drenched chords are faintly reminiscent of the ambient techno of Thomas Köner, but more grounded, more menacing.
