Gang Gang Dance have recorded the latest 4AD session, to celebrate the release of their new album for the label, Eye Contact.

As you might expect from Gang Gang Dance, it’s a little bit different to the norm.

Filmed in April, the session took place in a purposefully built 20 foot square mirror room, so that the band were surrounded by images of themselves repeated to infinity. Due to the fact that the room – inspired by the “infinity rooms” of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama – took most of the allotted recording time to build, the session didn’t start until midnight, lasting until sunrise.

So performed in the twilight hours, you have here extended versions of material from Eye Contact, plus an airing of an unreleased Gang Gang track titled ‘Kou-da-ley’ and ‘Bond’, the album’s Japanese bonus track. Given the circumstances, as well as the renowned quality of Gang Gang’s live shows, it’s understandable that 4AD are calling it a “landmark session”. Watch it below.
