Felix K, the Berlin-based producer whose remarkable productions exist in the rarefied space between minimal drum’n bass, techno and dub, has released his long awaited Solaris Series.

“Hidden Hawaii brings you another mini collectors series with salient music: The Solaris Series,” says a note on the website of his label, Hidden Hawaii. “Six great tunes of different artists are spread on three virgin vinyl 10″ records. Each record contains a unique artwork corresponding to the theme and the artist information in form of a code. Just 292 copies of each record and no repress.””

Comprised of three separate, limited edition 10″ releases on his Hidden Hawaii, Solaris Series finds Felix and his mysterious mates exploring more abstract terrain than ever before, whilst staying true to their dnb/techno roots. The second 10″ in particular, 2/3, is fleet-footed but assuredly heavy dancefloor tackle, powered by walloping sub-bass and Hidden Hawaii’s trademark tricksy percussion – fans of Rockwell, Data and Instra:mental circa 2009 will, it’s safe to say, lap this stuff up. The A-side of 3/3 provides the series’ most obviously junglist moment, its stirring cinematic ambience and shuffling breakbeats putting us in mind of classic Photek.

The 10″s are currently available at Hard Wax, where you can also listen to clips, and will presumably creep their way into select other stores around the world in the coming weeks; they won’t hang around for long, so act fast if you’re interested.
