London’s Cable club is launching a new sister venue, Relay, on February 4, 2012.

The new 500-capacity space has been created out of the club’s rarely used third room, and will operated as a stand-alone venue with events programmed in parallel to the larger parties at Cable next door. As well as a new bar, seating area, cloakroom and toilets, the space has been fitted with a Nova soundsystem, low hanging lights and wall-mounted LEDs.

Though Relay will host its own independent nights, for larger parties it can and will function as part of Cable, providing a third room capable of hosting live bands as well as DJs.

The venue’s Ryan Ashmore says: “Transforming this additional and underused space into a fully-fledged sister venue is a natural progression for Cable. It’s really exciting to have already reached a stage where we are expanding, despite not even having reached our 3rd birthday!”

Cable opened in 2009, and its regular nights hosted by the likes of Shogun Audio, Metalheadz, Swamp81, Butterz and Blueprint Records have helped quickly establish it as a major London venue.

Relay’s “flagship” Saturday night will be a weekly house night, [Moh-Teef], which launches on February 4. [Moh-Teef] already plans to bring the likes of Margaret Dygas, Kozo & Cezar and Alex Picone to the venue, alongside residents J Nelson, Pete Glasspool and Leroy Roberts.
