The video for Nicki Minaj’s new single ‘Stupid Hoe’ has been banned by American network BET.
Directed by Hype Williams, we’re not quite sure why the video’s been banned: some shots of Nicki Minaj’s behind, dancing in a steel cage and some swearing is about as explicit as things get, which hardly makes it worse than ‘The Thong Song’.
It does however hype up Minaj’s upcoming appearance at the 2012 NFL Superbowl, which could be an advertising issue, and isn’t exactly epileptic-friendly, so maybe those are the real issues behind its ban.
In 2010, Ciara’s ‘Ride’ was also pulled from the station for being too sexual.
In other news, Nicki Minaj’s next single is a collaboration with Madonna and M.I.A. titled ‘Give Me All Your Love’. The video is being shot this week, directed by French collective Megaforce, and it’s believed that the three will perform the song together at half-time at this Sunday’s Superbowl.
