The next release on Spectrum Spools – the synth jam-inclined sublabel of Editions Mego, co-run by Mego’s Peter Rehberg and John Elliott of Emeralds – will be from one Franco Falsini.

A bit of internet sleuthing reveals that Falsini was a member of lesser known Italian prog outfit Sensation’s Fix, who released a series of albums in the 70s with limited commercial success. Cold Nose was Falsini’s only solo effort from the same time – it was originally released on Polydor in 1975 – and was reportedly the soundtrack to a never-released film of the same name – about cocaine, naturally.

The label’s motivation behind resurrecting the album becomes pretty clear when you hear the excerpt on their Soundcloud (stream it below) – its swirling, antiquated soundscapes are a clear predecessor to the current crop of era-straddling synth experimentalists, Emeralds included.

Cold Nose will be released on March 20. You can find out more information and pre-order it on the Mego website.
