Lil Silva, still one of the most vital names in the UK Funky scene, has thrown snippets of three new tracks out into the ether.
The first selection – titled ‘Public Enemy’ – is a foreboding number, with nods to the sound palette of Industrial music. The track also features a heavily mangled vocal line courtesy of croonster Jamie Woon. The second cut is spacier: a rubbery siren wriggles and wails over a percussion track that looks to road-rap as much as it does to UKF. Lil Silva’s final transmission goes heavy on the syncopation, resulting in one of his filthier productions in recent years.
A new EP is on the way this Summer through Night Slugs, although none of the tracks here are set to feature. Silva is also currently working on “full song-based studio material” with Woon.
