August alt. folker Will Oldham – better known as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – is set to drop a joint record with gently psychedelic crew Trembling Bells.

The LP, titled The Marble Downs, will come out on the ever-interesting Honest Jon’s imprint in early April. Trembling Bells lynchpin Alex Neilson first met Oldham when the pair both worked on Alasdair Roberts‘ 2005 LP No Earthly Man. The two, it appears, hit it off creatively; according to Neilson, the new album demonstrates “a sense of a common vocabulary and identity being forged.”

The album will be preceded by an eight-track EP, entitled The Duchess. That record features additional contributions from a cappella ensemble Muldoon’s Picnic, as well as a bespoke silk-screened sleeve (and very pretty it is too). The EP promises some Scott Walker material, and a full side of ‘unaccompanied folk singing’.

The Duchess will be released soon, with The Marble Downs to follow on April 9.
