Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks, you may or may not be surprised to hear, is pretty great.
In keeping with his old mate Noel Gallagher’s recent embrace of the psychedelic – Gallagher’s been working extensively with old hands The Amorphous Androgynous – Sonik Kicks is the most expansive, ambitious solo album that the former Jam and Style Council frontman’s released in his long career.
Universal will be releasing the album next Monday, while The Vinyl Factory are handling a deluxe edition on 180-gram vinyl, complete with bespoke gatefold sleeve and specially treated matt UV artwork. That’s available to pre-order here, and the album – which Weller will be touring across five upcoming dates at London’s Roundhouse – is streaming in full below.
In other news, another sharp-dresser that we’ve been covering lately, Kindness, has his debut album out next Monday too. You can stream World, You Need A Change of Mind over at The Guardian.
