Photographer Antony Crook will unveil a new photography and film project with Mogwai at an East London exhibition next month.
Based around a series of images and a film Crook shot whilst traveling with the veteran rockers in Japan, Mogwai / Japan will be on show at Hoxton’s KK Outlet.
In the words of the press release, “There is a stillness and calm, but also an intensity and weight to both Crook’s images and to Mogwai’s music. It is from this parallel point that a collaborative relationship between the band and Crook has formed; the starting point being the cover artwork and photography for their 2011 album Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will.”
Mogwai Japan will run from April 6-28; with a private event booked in for April 5 at Hoxton Bar & Grill. This will allow the audience to see Crook speak with Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, as well as view Knock for Knock, a film shot in Japan with a Mogwai soundtrack, and the unveiling of a collaborative feature film project with record-breaking cyclist James Bowthorpe – Mogwai’s first full film score since their work on 2006 Zinedine Zidane documentary Zidane.
