With Death Grips signing to Sony subsidiary Epic, it didn’t take long for po-faced forum types to begin muttering that perennial pejorative: “sell out”.

Leaving aside the fact that, even if Death Grips watered down their sound considerably, it would still fall on the wrong side of unlistenable as far as the wider public are concerned, recent tasters suggest the trio haven’t lost their explosive form.

It looks like ‘The Fever (Aye Aye)’, downloadable via the band’s Soundcloud, is taken from their forthcoming album, Money Store. The stratospheric energy levels of last year’s Exmilitary are intact, though it is admittedly pretty straight up fare compared to some of that album’s more deranged moments. It even has – whisper it – a chorus, though it’s more sandblasted than euphoric. You can download the track, and watch the video for it, below. Money Store is due for release on April 23.
