Jazz drummer Tony Marsh has died.

London Jazz report that Marsh died of cancer, yesterday. His long playing career dates back to the ’70s, when he was a member of the group Major Surgery. He’s worked with musicians such as John Surman, Elton Dean, Harry Beckett and the pianist Mike Westbrook (with whom he collaborated regularly), and gigged regularly on the London circuit until recently [via The Wire‘s Derek Walmsley].
