Australian native pits cool versus frantic on new track
‘Collision’ is the latest from Lil Jabba, an Australian-born, Baltimore producer associated with Chicago’s Tek Life juke crew. While keeping the 160-BPM tempo, the track starts out deceptively smooth, with slow, multi-tonal kicks and warm chords. When things do get frenetic, it’s not the drums that go bonkers; they just keep going along in their unperturbed manner. It’s the synths that start pinging every which direction, up, down, and against the beat.
