Frank Timm has released the second record in his Sound Sampler series, which chronicles new and old work made under his Soundhack, Soundstream and T.S.O.S. guises.
Sound Sampler Vol. 1½ is out now on stamped white label 12″, and leads with two riotously cut-up Soundhack versions of Auto-Repeat’s ‘Auto Disco’. The original remix featured on Auto-Repeat’s 2006 EP Most Keys Are Auto-Repeat, which now commands upwards of £50 on the second-hand market; the ‘Krachapella’ version is, as far as we can tell, previously unreleased. The B-side is given over to a new, or at least newly unveiled, Soundstream track, entitled ‘Disco Crash’ – a full-bodied, filter-happy disco bomb reminiscent of Daft Punk in their pomp.
