Twenty years have loped by since the release of The Pharcyde’s exceptional Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.
Delicious Vinyl are primed to release a limited edition box set, titled Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde: The Singles Collection. As The Daily Swarm outline, the set will drop on Record Store Day.
Fans of lucky primes will have plenty to shout about: the package contains seven 7″ records pressed on seven different colours of vinyl. The set also includes a 24-track 2xCD, including (ready?) seven instrumentals, five acapellas, six remixes and a rare bonus track; much of the above has never been released previously. The bundle also includes a 21″x28″ poster, a jigsaw puzzle, and thorough liner-notes and exclusive photographs of the band.
The L.A hip-hop group are one of the most fondly remembered outfits of the era. Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, produced almost exclusively by J-Swift (who takes charge of the liner notes on the reissue), was a kaleidoscopic blend of soul, jazz and funk. Having lost Fatlip and SlimKid3 in the intervening years, The Pharcyde are currently ploughing on as a duo.
