Update: dollop have moved the date and the location of Lone’s album launch. The night will now take place at London’s Plastic People on May 19. My Panda Shall Fly and Spam Chop have also both been added to the bill.
Lone’s iridescent new album drops next month on R&S.
To celebrate, dollop are hosting a splendiferous launch party at Peckham’s Bussey Building on May 5. Lone, naturally, will be performing live. After years turning out woozy head-nod, Matt Cutler’s made a sideways shift to glossy, grin-inducing house music. The sugar-rush of tracks like ‘Pineapple Crush’ and ‘Crystal Castles 1991’ should be doubly spine-tingling in a live environment. Joining him is producer and chanteuse Nightwave. The artist formerly known as 8Bitch also knows a thing or two about antic dance music. Like Rustie (whose ‘Surph’ she recently re-vox’d), her productions are frequently sugary, upfront and saturated with ideas.
Hoya Hoya lynchpin Illum Sphere will be adding a dash of darkness to proceedings with his texturally rich beat music. Neon Jung, currently resident on Lone’s Magic Wire Recordings, rounds out the bill with his Hello Kitty reinterpretation of happy hardcore. R&S and dollop DJs will also keep things moving earlier in the night.
The night runs from 10.00pm-5.00am. Tickets and further information are available from the dollop website.
