Bobby Womack’s ‘Please Forgive my Heart’, from new album The Bravest Man in the Universe, has been given a ravier edit by Damon Albarn and XL Recordings boss Richard Russell.
The original ‘Please Forgive my Heart’, also produced by Russell and Albarn, features skittish drums that pan from side to side to vaguely disorientating effect, but this new edit plays things straighter with a loose, dancefloor-friendly loop. Of course, this sort of thing is second nature to Russell – his 1992 single ‘The Bouncer’, as Kicks Like A Mule in collaboration with Nick Halkes, is an all-time rave anthem, after all – but subtly placed over those twilight keys and Womack’s untouchable voice, the effects are stunning [via Abeano].
