San Proper is heralding the release of his new album, Animal, with a live performance at Fabric on May 19.
The characterful Dutch artist, whose productions combine a mastery of svelte house grooves with far-reaching pop panache, has released records on such respected labels as Perlon, Dekmantel and M>O>S, but it’s Amsterdam’s Rush Hour that’s his spiritual home. Having built his reputation with the five-part Proper’s A’dam Family Series on Rush Hour – which saw him collaborate with other talented locals, including Tom Trago – he returns to the imprint for the release of Animal, and its lead single of the same name, which features two long, immersive reworks from Ricardo Villalobos that count among the Chilean’s most impressive and unusual recent work.
We’ve got three copies of the Animal (Ricardo Villalobos Remixes) 12″ to give away. Each of our winners will also receive free entry for two to Fabric on May 19, where San Proper will be playing live in Room 1, bookended by DJ sets from Margaret Dygas, Delano Smith and Craig Richards. The other two rooms feature The Pachanga Boys (Superpitcher and Rebolledo), Juan Atkins and Auntie Flo, to name but a few, so you can’t really go wrong. To enter the comp, simply email your name and the words ‘san proper’ to competitions@thevinylfactory.com. Our winners will be notified on or before May 18.
