Bristol house playboy Julio Bashmore has started a new label.
Called Broadwalk Records (he does have a way with names, you know), it’ll debut on July 2 with an inaugural release from Bashmore himself. You can stream the lead track from that release, the lithe ‘Au Seve’, below.
Bashmore’s blurb for the label justifies its existence better than we ever could, so here it is:
“Fast cars, money, but no record label to truly call my own? This ends today…
Hi, I’m Julio Bashmore.
Somehow I have found time between jet-setting around the globe, becoming a voice for the people via my Radio One show and generally living the high life to bring you a brand new label, Broadwalk Records.
Today heralds a new era in the Julio Bashmore chronicles, with a sound that shall echo through the ages…”
Bashmore emerged as one to watch in late 2009. His seismic ‘Um Bongo’s Revenge’ was signed by Claude VonStroke’s dirtybird label after doing some damage in the UK underground, and Bashmore hasn’t looked back since – for many, his 2011 single ‘Battle for Middle You’ was the house anthem of last year. He aslo collaborates with fellow Bristolian Hyetal under the name Velour.
