Paris-dwelling sisters CocoRosie seem to fall in and out of critical favour, but FACT always has their back.
The Casadys have frequently beguiled in the past with their mix of black-eyed folk, twisted hip-hop rhythms and music box melodies. Granted, there’s also times where they don’t even border on making sense (actually, that happens quite a lot), and in between some great records there’s been moments where they just seem vacuous, but still – overall, we’re into ’em. Which is why we’re particularly excited that not only have Sierra and Bianca released their first record since 2010 album Grey Oceans, new single ‘We Are On Fire’, but that the B-side, ‘Tearz for Animals’ is a collaboration with long-time CocoRosie supporter Antony Hegarty. No great surprises – it’s classic CocoRosie, with twinkling piano, an imperfect clicked-out melody and plenty of warbling from both parties, but then that’s what you pay your money for.
