Esteemed podcast Electronic Explorations has announced its first release – and it’s a whopper.

Since 2007, the online show has been one of the more essential dance music podcasts. Over 200 episodes (all of which are archived here), the site has done a neat job of keeping track of acts like Ramadanman, Mount Kimbie, Subeena and FaltyDL on their way up.

EE founder Rob Booth is apparently struggling to maintain operations due to increased costs. As part of a fundraising drive, he’s subsequently recruited a host of former podcast guests for a new compilation.The package is definitely good value: Electronic Explorations features 58 unreleased and exclusive tracks. The gargantuan tracklisting is below, but contributors include Kahn, Forward Strategy Group, Darqwan, Machinedrum, Kowton and TVO. FACT have the exclusive first play of Atlantan producer Distal’s effort, the squirming ‘Ralph Muggins Acid Depot’.

The Tectonic associate specializes in the frenetic-bordering-on-barmy; his oddball amalgamation of footwork, dubstep, booty bass and rap feels like it can swerve in any direction at any time. Debut album Civilization substituted adventurousness for coherence, but did so with admirable dynamism and a smile on its face. Given his pedigree, ‘Ralph Muggins Acid Depot’ is surprisingly minimal and – whisper it – gentle. Boggy acid lines, synthetic cowbells and snatches of ‘Silver Screen/Shower Scene’ dialogue are tossed into the mix. Whoever Mr Muggins is, he’s got a nifty little namesake.

Electronic Explorations will drop on July 1.
