WIth Never Mind The Bollocks celebrating its 35th anniversary, Sex Pistol/PiL leader John Lydon’s rehabilitation as a national institution continues.

The Independent report that the rabble rouser will appear in this week’s edition of the BBC’s flaship political debate show. In doing so, he follows the lead of Jarvis Cocker and pop crooner Will Young, both of whom have made notable appearances on the programme.

Lydon, of course, has previously graced our screens on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here and some wildly contentious Country Life butter adverts. He’s long been a vociferous critic of British politics, and has suffered opprobrium himself over comments in the lead up to a PiL gig in Tel Aviv in 2010.

Lydon will be joined by provocative Tory Louise Mensch and former Labour home secretary (and certified lovely chap) Alan Johnson on the panel. Climate change secretary Ed Davey and journo Dominic Lawson will also appear. Lydon’s got some plugging to do: Public Image Ltd. have just released their first LP in 20 years, This Is PiL.
