Guillermo Scott Herren, best known for his slanted beatwork as Prefuse 73, has just released a compilation of old recordings made under his Piano Overlord alias.
The material on Aninha Mission dates back even further than the last Piano Overlord record, 2005’s The Singles Collection 03-05. The (old) new album collects material recorded back in in 2004 in Barcelona, and features contributions from the likes of Tyondai Braxton and John McEntire. Title track ‘Aninha’ is a coruscating example of the Piano Overlord modus operandi – it’s a breezy number, situated somewhere between glitch and lounge. [via XLR8R]
Aninha Mission is out now on Chocolate Industries.
