‘Gloss’ is a sweet and sour number, heavy on the tropical marimba but shot through with that gently malevolent streak that makes his best work so interesting. At points, you could be listening to a John Talabot record; elsewhere, Circle Traps are the immediate reference point. A squall of guitar feedback also runs throughout the piece.
