Listen, Wideboys’ original definitely isn’t going to be your cup of tea. A cheer for DJ Q, then, who reconfigures the track into something properly palatable. Like his recent ‘Brandy & Coke’, ‘Addicted 2 The Bass’ hews closer to classic two-step than contemporary bassline. It’s not just satisfying: there are enough weird flourishes – the intermittent detuned xylophone motif; an approach to cut’n’paste that resembles Mouse On Mars as readily as it does your next two-step producer – to make it a genuinely surprising listen.
